A Weekend on the Wheel

Learning to throw clay on the potter’s wheel is a skill that requires focus and persistence, so a two-day intensive workshop is an excellent way to begin this exciting journey!

Tania Rollond provides demonstrations of all the basic skills including how to centre the clay, lift, shape and trim the form. She encourages you to develop wheel-forming techniques and build confidence with guided practices and one-to-one tuition.

All clay is provided, and selected pieces will be bisque fired in the NAS kilns after the workshop, and we will notify you when they are ready for pick up. Glazing courses are available in other short courses programs.

*NAS Short Courses are open to students of ages 16 years and over. The NAS Art Club is open to students from ages 15 years and over.

Tania Rollond makes functional and sculptural ceramics, drawings and prints on paper that reflect on her place in the natural world, and the rural environment where she lives.

Rollond holds a Master of Fine Arts (Research) at the University of NSW Art & Design and a Bachelor of Arts (Design) from Curtin University. She studied ceramics at the National Art School, has been a lecturer there since 2004, and has also taught ceramics at University of NSW and Institutes of TAFE. She has been exhibiting regularly since 2001, and her work is held in the collections of the Bendigo Regional Gallery, Shepperton Art Museum, FLICAM Museum in Fuping, China, and many private collections in Australia and internationally.
