Course Overview

Join acclaimed Australian artist Juz Kitson for a two-day masterclass in experimental porcelain, designed to deepen your understanding of the material and explore innovative techniques for manipulating it. Participants will be challenged to push the boundaries of porcelain, creating a collection of experimental works that reflect personal themes and concepts.

Under Juz's guidance, participants will develop their own series of ceramic pieces, incorporating other materials as appropriate. The course begins with curated exercises and demonstrations, offering insight into advanced methods of shaping and manipulating porcelain clay. This masterclass goes beyond the basics of handbuilding, providing a comprehensive learning experience through observation, explanation, and imitation within a welcoming and professional studio environment.

Selected pieces will be fired in the NAS kilns after the workshop. Please note, it may take up to four weeks after your course ends for works to be available for collection. We will notify you when they are ready for pick up.

There will be a light lunch and refreshments provided on Sunday 29 June, which is included in the cost of the workshops. This is an opportunity for social engagement with fellow Masterclass students and staff. The NAS Café is open on Saturday 28 June for regular purchases of drinks, meals and snacks.

* The course fee accommodates a limited class size, fostering a more personal learning experience.

* The course is for intermediate to advanced level students over the age of 18.
