Course Overview

Do you have bisque-fired ceramic works that you would like to glaze and fire? Bring your bisque-fired pieces along to the course, and learn about earthenware, stoneware and porcelain glazes. Bronwyn Kemp demonstrates glazing methods, glaze types, as well as how to pack and control the firing of a kiln, and how to make test sample and firing styles appropriate to your work. Learn about low temperature (earthenware), mid-fire, and high temperature glazes, with either oxidation or reduction glaze techniques. You will learn what colours are possible to achieve at which temperature range to get the best outcomes for your ceramic works. You will complete the course with a good knowledge of glaze technologies and be able to run your own glaze test program, and experiment with new glaze ideas and surface treatments, and have your ceramic objects be glazed and fired.
