Course Overview

Immerse yourself in the interconnected practices of monoprinting, papermaking, and bookmaking in this week-long workshop. Under Janet’s guidance, you will explore a range of monoprint techniques, experimenting with papers you create during the course. Learn how to transform existing papers into new surfaces for drawing, painting, printing, collage, and book arts, while incorporating threads, fabrics, and other materials for added texture and depth.

This workshop invites you to expand your perception of the book as an artistic form and to reimagine the possibilities of repurposed visual ideas. Bring along a variety of personal materials to weave into your work and discover how to integrate them into fresh creations. By the end of the week, you will have learned two bookbinding methods—a Japanese binding and a Coptic hardcover binding—equipping you with timeless skills to carry forward in your practice.
