Course Overview

Discover the tactile world of papermaking and bookmaking, learning how to transform existing papers and pictures into handmade books, with drawings, prints and original papers. Janet Parker-Smith demonstrates a wide range of techniques, including paper pulp making with the inclusion of threads, fabrics and other materials. She also teaches three methods of bookmaking including a Japanese-bind and Coptic-bind with a hard cover. Expand your perception of papers and books, and the re-purposing of visual ideas, by bringing your own collection of paper materials with you and learn how to transform them into beautiful experimental, creative books.
